The Gift of Remembering: Lisa’s Sober Christmas

Sober Christmas, Addiction Recovery

We’re raising our cup of hot chocolate to Lisa, who is celebrating her first sober Christmas with her family. Lisa came to Help Me Stop’s central London rehab in September, completing our intensive Dayhab programme for alcohol addiction. Here’s to the joy of being able to remember everything.

‘I’m Looking Forward to Christmas, to Be Sober’

‘Christmas is always a family time for us, as it is for many people. However, I think this year, we’ve talked about going away for Christmas. But either way, it will be a quiet Christmas. The family will understand, I don’t want to drink. I won’t drink. They’ve all been very good and not drunk around me at the moment. But I’d be confident for them to have a drink or a small drink. And I’m looking forward to Christmas, to be sober. I really am. I think it will be the first Christmas for a few years I’ll be able to remember everything and enjoy.’
